It's only been a week, and Disney's latest instalment of Snow White (2025) has already broken the record for Disney's worst-performing film, as well as earning one of the lowest audience ratings on IMDb.
Snow White currently holds a rating of 1.7/10 on IMDb from over 145,000 user reviews, making it one of the worst-rated films on the site.

The lowest-rated film on IMDb is Saving Christmas (2014) at 1.3/10, followed by Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 at 1.5/10. Snow White is tied for the third-worst rated film on IMDb alongside Birdemic: Shock and Terror (2010) and Manos: The Hands of Fate (1996).

On Rotten Tomatoes, things look a little different. It received a "Rotten" score (42%) on the Tomatometer, but surprisingly, the audience gave it a 74%. Though, this wouldn’t be the first time Rotten Tomatoes has been accused of review manipulation.
The audience reviews on IMDB are scathing, and often lengthy. Here's what filmgoers had to say.
It's diabolical, honestly, I can't understand how so much money and so much time has gone into this, the final result is cringe worthy.
And another filmgoer joked,
This movie is less 'fairest of them all' and more 'fairest at falling upwards'.
On top of the audience review bombing, Snow White also suffered a dismal opening weekend, pulling in just $42.2 million. Disney execs were reportedly hoping to clear $100 million at the domestic box office, but those hopes have now been dashed.
The live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, which faced similar criticism for race swapping, brought in $95.6 million—almost double—in its opening weekend.
As a reminder, a film's opening weekend is typically its strongest, often followed by a sharp decline in interest and ticket sales.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Snow White (2025) had a production budget of $270 million, with an estimated $100 million more spent on marketing. Pamela McClintock notes the film is in "potential bomb territory."
The film has also been widely discussed by right-wing political pundits, who have repeatedly criticized the casting choices and the political views of lead actress Rachel Zegler—particularly her past comments wishing harm on Trump supporters.
Disney's Snow White (Rachel Zegler) said that harm should befall Trump and all his voters.

Ben Shapiro appearing on the Megyn Kelly Show chastised Disney for reducing all their historic plots to "woman don't need no man." "Nobody grew up with that crap " Shapiro told Megyn, "and nobody is interested in it."
Disney’s politics and casting choices clearly have consequences—and in this case, they’re costly ones. While Disney execs likely anticipated some backlash, it’s doubtful they expected Snow White to flop this hard, this fast.
