A French woman revealed on French TV how she had lost her life savings to scammers posing as Brad Pitt.
The woman, named Anne, shared her story on a French television program. She believed she was in a romantic relationship with the Hollywood A-list star, which led to her divorce and transferring 830,000 euros.
Using fake social media accounts and AI-generated images, the scammers convinced the 53-year-old- woman that she was speaking to Brad Pitt. Many of the selfies are grainy images featuring Brad Pitt in hospital.
The scammers, pretending that the famous actor needed money for kidney treatment because his bank accounts had been frozen in the divorce proceedings with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
According to Anne, while on a ski trip in Tignes, she received a message from an account posing as Jane Etta Pitt (Brad's mother). A day later, an account posing as Brad messaged her and they soon started a relationship.
While the woman never spoke on the phone with the scammers posing as Brad Pitt, she did receive AI-generated videos and images which convinced her he was real. He also asked her to marry him.
