Florida Dem in Cowboy Hat Demands Violent ‘Uprising’ to Free Illegals, Targets Republicans

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., decked out in a pink suit and flower-adorned cowboy hat, is urging Americans to “threaten” Republican lawmakers and spark an “uprising” for condoning the arrests of “hardworking” illegal immigrants and subjecting them to conditions at ICE’s Krome Detention Center.

Her roadside rant, delivered amidst bushes and roaring traffic, marks yet another instance of Democrats gleefully inciting violence against political foes—a tactic as old as their Ku Klux Klan roots.

“So I’ve been giving out the phone numbers to the House of Representatives and to the Senate,” Wilson declared at a press conference streamed live on Instagram. “It’s one number – that number you call and you threaten it, and you say, ‘This is wrong. This is not America. This is not what we stand for. We need a change.’”

“You have to do that. It’s going to take the people. We’ve done it,” she continued. “We need the people. We needed an uprising where people are taking to the streets and the phones, and writing letters. That’s what we need.”

Wilson’s call to arms follows a visit to the Miami facility, where she expected to find criminals “tattooed with gold teeth” but instead saw “hardworking men.”

She baselessly claimed ICE staged a cover-up: “I am positive they took people out today so I wouldn’t see [the overcrowding].”

“It was like somebody went in there yesterday and put on a whole new coat of fresh paint … you could even smell the paint,” Wilson said.

She also claimed law enforcement officials are erecting a “tent city” of “Plexiglas or Styrofoam” to house more illegal immigrants, insisting, “Most of the people are not criminals.”

Her ire targeted the Laken Riley Act, signed by President Trump in January 2025, which mandates detention of illegal immigrants charged with crimes like theft or assaulting police.

The law, named after the nursing student brutally murdered in 2024 by José Antonio Ibarra, a Tren de Aragua gang member released due to lax Biden-era policies, has fueled a crackdown on migrants unprecedentedly flooding across the border under the Biden administration.

“The Laken Riley Act has caused an increase in detainees, and these are people who … you could have been here forever,” Wilson decried, warning illegal immigrants can be arrested for “walking across the street, jaywalking, or shoplifting, they will detain you and bring you right here.”

Wilson’s claim that detainees are merely “hardworking men” glosses over cases like Ibarra, who, after entering illegally in 2022, racked up charges for child endangerment and shoplifting before murdering Riley.

ICE’s failure to detain him under Biden’s lenient policies underscores the stakes. Yet Wilson and her ilk champion these figures, painting them as victims while ignoring the body count.

In 2024, House Democrats, including Reps. Robert Garcia and Maxwell Frost, requested a congressional delegation to El Salvador to protest the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member.

Biden’s Border Chaos vs. Trump’s Crackdown

Under Biden’s first six months in 2021, illegal border crossings skyrocketed, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection reporting over 1.1 million encounters at the southern border—a 237% surge from Trump’s final six months in 2020.

By contrast, since Trump’s return in January 2025, illegal immigration has plummeted.

 CBP data shows daily encounters dropped from 20,086 in Biden’s last week to 1,041 in Trump’s first week— a 95% collapse.

“Gotaways” — migrants who evade capture — fell 93%, from 1,800 to 132 daily. Trump’s reinstatement of Title 42, border wall construction, and suspension of the CBP One app have choked off illegal flows, while the Laken Riley Act ensures criminals face detention.

Democrats’ Violent Playbook

Wilson’s rhetoric isn’t new for Democrats, who’ve long flirted with violence to bully opponents.

In 2018, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., urged supporters to “push back” and harass Trump officials in public, screaming, “You get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them.”

This isn’t a glitch; it’s a feature. The Democrat Party, birthed in the 19th century as the political arm of the Ku Klux Klan, once lynched “carpetbagger” Republicans advocating for freed slaves.

Democrats’ crocodile tears for “hardworking immigrants” mask a cynical ploy. Just as the KKK-backed Democrats once exploited slave labor, today they exploit illegal immigrants — as cheap labor to depress wages, and future votes to cement power.
