Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that he will direct the CDC to stop recommending fluoride in public drinking water, citing potential health risks.

Speaking at a press conference in Salt Lake City on April 7, 2025, Kennedy praised Utah’s recent ban on water fluoridation as a step toward “the leader in making America healthy again.”

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is also reviewing new science on fluoride’s potential dangers, which could lead to stricter national standards on its use.

The study went on to add that there was "insufficient data to determine if the low fluoride level of 0.7 mg/L currently recommended for U.S. community water supplies has a negative effect on children’s IQ."

This means researchers couldn’t confidently say the government’s recommended fluoride level isn’t causing mental side effects in children...
