A Texas judge has rejected the auction sale of Alex Jones' Infowars to The Onion, citing transparency issues, which "left a lot of money on the table" for the families of Sandy Hook victims.

Although U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez did not cite any wrongdoing with the auction process, he did suggest there were serious problems with the sale, enough so to reverse the proposed sale.

The most obvious problem being that the sale bid to The Onion, $1.75 million, was around half of what First United American Companies had bid at $3.5 million. Suspiciously, Infowars was sold to The Onion even though the sale would give less to the families – raising money was the main reason for the sale.

Alex Jones, Owen Shroyer and the Infowars crew celebrated the judge's decision last night as they broadcasted what they thought would be their last live show on Infowars.

Ben Collins CEO of The Onion released a statement on 𝕏 saying, “We are deeply disappointed in today’s decision, but The Onion will continue to seek a resolution that helps the Sandy Hook families receive a positive outcome for the horror they endured." Read the full statement below.

The Onion had planned to relaunch Infowars as the "dumbest" site on the internet in a move to mock the previous owner and his legacy.

In one iconic post back when the sale was first announced, Ben Collins wrote, "Stand by for the funniest news you've ever heard in your life." The internet is still standing by to hear the funniest news they've ever heard from one of the least funny people on the planet.

Because of the suspicious favouritism shown to The Onion during the auction process, Alex Jones could very well retain ownership of Infowars – if not through his own company, through that of a beneficiary.
