This afternoon, Matt Gaetz confirmed on 𝕏 that he would be withdrawing his name from consideration to serve as Attorney General under Donald Trump.
Former-Rep. Matt Gaetz has been under fire ever since Trump nominated him for the position of Attorney General overseeing the Department of Justice. His nomination to the DOJ caused surprising outrage among his colleagues on Capitol Hill and those in the mainstream media.
I had excellent meetings with Senators yesterday. I appreciate their thoughtful feedback - and the incredible support of so many. While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance…

Only yesterday, Sunny Hostin from The View was forced to read a legal memo on air after trashing Matt Gaetz over accusations of child sex trafficking.
The same day, The New York Times obtained and published documents assembled by federal investigators during a sex-trafficking investigation into Mr. Gaetz. Allegedly, these investigators established a web of payments among Gaetz and dozens of friends and associates who are said to have taken part in drug-fuelled sex parties.
This all comes after weeks of ruthless attacks and accusations from the left.
Matt Gaetz has denied all wrongdoing, and the Justice Department has since closed the case without any charges against him. But it seems like the heat was too much for the Republicans and the Trump team, and now Gaetz is withdrawing his nomination.
He said in a post on 𝕏, "my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction" and went on to say, "thus I'll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General."
Gaetz's post has garnered a mixed response, with some people upset and others wondering if there is more to the story. "You're the last person that I thought would quit," said one comment. Valentina Gomez supported the former congressman, "come hell or high water, I have your back Matt." While CCG Bryson questioned whether the allegations had any merit, "This makes me think that the allegations are true."
