Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has introduced a resolution to amend the rules of the US House of Representatives that would ban transgender women from women's restrooms at the US Capitol.
The move comes just two weeks after the election of America's first out transgender person to congress. Rep.-elect Sarah McBride, a state senator from Delaware, won a seat in congress on November 5th and will be sworn-in in January.
Thank you, Delaware! Because of your votes and your values, I am proud to be your next member of Congress.

Rep. Nancy Mace spoke with reporters on Capitol Hill last night, saying, "They [transgender women] should not be in the locker rooms, not be in changing rooms, should not be in our restrooms either." When asked what restroom Sarah McBride should use in the Capitol, Mace responded, "she was born a biological male, she should use the men's restroom."
When asked if her resolution was in direct response to Sarah McBride, Mace confirmed, "that and more." The representative from South Carolina took to 𝕏 to post images of the resolution and double down on her decision. "We must protect girls everywhere from this sick policy of forcing men into private spaces for women and girls."

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has also voiced her support for the amendment. Speaking with reporters, she said, "Tim McBride is a biological man, and he should not be using any of our restrooms in the capital." Today, Taylor Greene appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room, and further blasted McBride with insults, saying, "his real name is Tim McBride, so little Timmy is now going to be a member of congress in January."
Rep.-elect Sarah McBride has indirectly responded to the comments made by Rep. Nancy Mace yesterday, saying, "Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness."

Members from the trans community did not take the news so well, with some responding with threats of violence against Rep. Mace. The Libs of TikTok account posted a video where Instagram user venuspeenis, a trans activist, describes an imaginary situation where he assaults Mace. "I grab your ratty looking f—ing hair" he says, "while I repeatedly bash it in [her head] until bloods everywhere and you're dead." You can watch the full clip below.
