Djokovic Claims he ate 'Poisoned' Food in Melbourne Detention During COVID

“I realized that in that hotel in Melbourne I was fed with some food that poisoned me,” Djokovic told GQ magazine. "I had a really high level of heavy metal. Heavy metal. I had the lead, very high level of lead and mercury.”

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Novak Djokovic claimed he was feed 'poisoned' food in Melbourne ahead of the Australia Open in 2022.

The Serbian 24-time grand slam winner travelled to Melbourne in 2022 to compete in the Australia Open, only to have his Visa denied by the immigration minister because he was unvaccinated.

During the visa controversy, Djokovic was placed in detention at the Melbourne Park Hotel for five days before leaving Australia after an unsuccessful bid to appeal the ruling.

“I realized that in that hotel in Melbourne I was fed with some food that poisoned me,” Djokovic told GQ magazine.

“I had some discoveries when I came back to Serbia. I never told this to anybody publicly, but discoveries that I was, I had a really high level of heavy metal. Heavy metal. I had the lead, very high level of lead and mercury.”

While Djokovic is not directly accusing anyone for feeding him food that contained high levels of lead and mercury, the implication here is that the Australian Government was somehow involved.

It's no secret that the Federal Government and the Victorian State Government and were vehemently opposed to Djokovic because of his stance on the Covid vaccine. Allowing him to play in the Australia Open unvaccinated would have emboldened the anti-vax movement which was growing in Australia.

This is an incredibly alarming claim to make. That the Australian Government would go to such lengths as poisoning a foreign citizen for encouraging dissenting views.

The Guardian brought in 'experts' to debunk the tennis player's claim of poisoning. But they only addressed the Australia diet, not the claim of intentional foul play.

Djokovic says he was deported for being a “public threat.” For being “a ‘hero,’ ” he says, to the growing anti-vax sentiment in Australia just then.

“That’s the actual reason why I was deported from Australia,” he says. “That’s what the three federal judges said in the end. Their sentence is that they are not in a position to question the discretionary right of the [immigration] minister. It was so political. It had nothing really to do with vaccine or COVID or anything else. It’s just political. The politicians could not stand me being there. For them, I think, it was less damage to deport me than to keep me there.”

The way Novak Djokovic was treated not only by the Australian Government but also but Australian citizens was an embarrassment. It portrayed Australians as cowards and slaves. Around the world, Australia is still mocked for it's humiliating response to Covid.

Djokovic told the Melbourne Herald that he suffers some trauma traveling to Australia because of his deportation in 2022, "The last couple of times I landed in Australia, to go through passport control and immigration – I had a bit of trauma from three years ago."

Let's not forget how he was publicly treated by Australia's ruling class. Here's what Stephen Lloyd, for Immigration Minister Alex Hawke told the press during the visa saga, "The Commonwealth should not be bound to suffer the presence of an alien for fear of what might happen if they were removed."

It's incredible that they would refer to Djokovic as an 'alien' but would never dare use this type of language if this was a Somali or Iranian asylum seeker.

Dan Andrews, Premier of Victoria said this: 'It's very simple, just get vaccinated. And then everyone's time wouldn't have to be wasted with this.'
