On Tuesday, the U.S. Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, faced criticism from both sides of the aisle as he testified in a House Oversight Hearing on the Postal Service.
The main criticisms heard from Lawmakers were that the US Postal Service has become slower and less reliable over the last years.
The Postmaster General was also criticised for spending far more taxpayer dollars than the USPS is bringing in, with a $9.5 billion net loss in 2024.
At one point during the hearing, Congressman Rich McCormick (R-Ga.) blamed DeJoy personally for the dismal performance of the Postal Service, saying, "You are responsible for the fall of the postal service, and the lack of accountability."
DeJoy refused to accept any responsibly and instead blamed Republicans and Democrats for the poor performance, "This Congress is responsible for the fall of the postal service."
Rep. McCormick fired back, “You’re worse than if I took a horse and picked up the mail and delivered it two miles down the road."
To which DeJoy responded, "You're talking to yourself," and covered his ears shocking congress and those in the audience.
McCormick, on the other hand, was amused, saying, "I hope you got that on camera." The childish response will surely put DeJoy in hot water with and the public, who are demanding his resignation.
