According to Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), the United States has been sending $40 million weekly cash shipments to Afghanistan since the country fell into the hands of the Taliban.
In a letter addressed to President Trump (January 2), Tim Burchett expressed his concerns about foreign aid being funneled to the Taliban. Burchett asked President Trump to 'take action' and put an end to the wasteful foreign aid that was funding enemies abroad.
Burchett posted the full letter on his 𝕏 page, writing, "$40 million a week to our enemies is a slap in the face to those who served." You can read the full letter below.
The Representative from Tennessee introduced a bill back in 2023, "requiring the State Department to discourage foreign from providing financial or material support to the Taliban, and to report on direct-cash assistance programs."
The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives, but Majority Leader Chuck Schumer refused to bring the bill to vote in the senate.
After leaving behind $7 billion worth of military equipment for the Taliban, it's incredible that the Democrats would continue to pour money into Afghanistan. At the point, it can even be described as incompetence, which would be a preferable excuse. It is intentional.
Representative Tim Burchett has been talking about this issue for over a year. In September, Burchett posted an article from the Daily Caller on his .gov website, which outlined some of the shocking details of this foreign aid scandal.
“According to an August 2023 World Bank report, the UN has purchased, transported, and transferred $2.9 billion in U.S. currency to Afghanistan since August 2021,” said a SIGAR report published in January. “This included $1.8 billion provided in 2022 and $1.1 billion provided in 2023, as of August 2023.”
The SIGAR report also went on to suggest that, “The U.S. is the largest international donor to Afghanistan, having provided about $2.6 billion in funding to the UN, other international organizations (PIOs), and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Afghanistan since August 2021.”
In podcast, Tim Burchett and an anonymous man named "Legend" break down how money is being funneled from the Afghani Central Bank to the Taliban and other terrorist groups.
The question is: Why would the United States be sending any aid, let alone printed cash, to a government/nation of people they were at war with for 20 years?
This IS a slap in the face to any solider who was involved in the conflict, not to mention the servicemen that lost their lives or were wounded in combat. The situation now makes the past twenty years see like a joke. What was the point of the entire occupation and campaign? As with Ukraine, was this just a money funneling project for politicians and corporations?
